Ayurveda: Life, Health, and Longevity
by Robert E. Svoboda
This is an excellent book to understand the theoretical basis of Ayurvedic medicine. The complexity of Ayurveda's theory is often overlooked for its knowledge of herbs and diet.
Robert Svoboda's writing style is excellent and very engaging and easy to read. I do not know how to describe his style . He takes you through every aspect of Ayurvedic medicine, starting with the fundamentals. Almost like a narrative, he tells the story of the Ayurvedic view of the human being and the universe, thus illustrating what the Ayurvedic philosophy means.
Ayurveda and Panchakarma
by Sunil Joshi
The principles of Ayurveda are clearly presented in a way you can identify with. Joshi shares home remedies as well as a succinct description for PanchaKarma. If we all did this deep cleansing/nourishing rejuvenation program on a regular basis we would not only improve our quality of life but our cash flow as well, without the abundance of prescriptions masking the real source of dis-ease. Thanks Dr. Joshi for sharing the ancient knowledge of Ayurveda.
Perfect Health: The Complete Mind/Body Guide
by Deepak Chopra
Perfect Health provides a complete step-by-step program of mind body medicine tailored to individual needs. A quiz identifies the reader's mind body type: thin, restless Vata; enterprising, efficient Pitta; tranquil, steady Kapha; or any combination of these three. This body type becomes the basis for a specific Ayurvedic program of diet, stress reduction, neuromuscular integration, exercise, and daily routines. The result is a total plan, tailor-made for each individual, to reestablish the body's essential balance with nature; to strengthen the mind body connection; and to use the power of quantum healing to transcend the ordinary limitations of disease and aging--in short, for achieving Perfect Health.
Prakriti: Your Ayurvedic Constitution
by Robert Svoboda
If you're new to ayurveda or it seems mystical to you, this book explains it. The author is a westerner and is able to communicate his knowledge of ayurveda extremely well. Ive read a lot of books on ayurveda this beats every one of them by far (and is way better than the books I've read by Deepak Chopra), simply because it digs beneath the superficial understanding of ayurveda to why it makes sense scientifically.
